CAAPS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donations are an integral part of allowing us to continue to serve society. When donating to CAAPS you have some control of how your donation is attributed. You may make a general donation, or you may designate your donation to a specific cause.
General donations are used in any way we deem necessary in order to do business. General donations are currently contributing to:
- general operating expenses (the everyday costs of doing business)
- legal costs associated with providing free legal services to society, and subsidizing contracted attorneys that represent our clients or the legal initiatives we support
- establishment of our legal internship program
- establishment and maintenance of our legal scholarship program
- any other expense that does not fall into a specific special interest that we have established
Due to our non-profit status we are barred from making political contributions to political action committees and persons running for elected office.

In addition to our general fund donations our organization is currently accepting donations for one specific area of Special Interest - Cop Cams.
The CAAPS CopCam initiative aims to provide funds to qualifying police departments, and law enforcement agencies that agree to outfit their police officers with body, or head, camera's and create policy mandating body and head cam use as part of the official police uniform and standard operations.
We are aware that the costs of these camera systems can be extremely cost prohibitive for large and small policing agencies alike, so we have established the CopCam fund that will allow us to provide money and equipment to departments that wish to implement this technology. 100% of the donations made to this fund are used to provide law enforcement agencies with the means to equip their officers with these cams, and the associated costs with doing so.
The CopCams come with great benefit to society and police officers alike. The benefits to police officers are:
- the system we recommend is actually an advanced communication system
- it is easy to key it on or off and there is a 30 sec buffer programmed in so when keyed on, it actually records 30 seconds prior to the activation of the cam.
- It records video and voice
- it is reviewable by the officer for compiling reports, and it can be commented to explain or highlight specific areas of interest on the video footage itself
- It cuts down on court time
- it eliminates false claims of abuse and harassment
- it makes investigations more efficient if ever there is a question of conduct
- it sees exactly what the officer sees, and sometimes more
- it can substantiate probable cause when requesting warrants
The Benefits to Society are:
- The cameras ensure professionalism when dealing with the police
- They ensure that if you waive or assert your rights, your choice is appropriately adhered to
- They ensure that if you make statements those statements will not be taken out of context
- They ensure there will be a recording of action between yourself and an officer at all times
- They make police work more efficient
- They contribute to reduced court time for police officers, which means faster resolution to court cases and less time in court so there is a reduced cost in police operations that can then be passed on to society in the form of reduced taxes
- Most of all it guarantees accountability of the men and women in the departments that are tasked with serving the public.
Any Police agencies that are interested in receiving these funds should contact the CAAPS organization to apply. We are always seeking new departments to work with.
There are also other ways you can donate to CAAPS. You can donate your time and volunteer to help with our causes, and/or you can donate goods to us. We are always looking for new office space to open a CAAPS office, office equipment, furniture, and supplies.
